This wedding was absolutely stunning and yet extremely intimate. Scotland is one of the most beautiful destinations to have your wedding. The vast rolling hills and purple skies make for a breath-taking backdrop for exchanging vows. There is much more to say  about destination weddings, therefore, I will be posting an informational blog here shortly talking all about the benefits of planning a destination wedding and choosing your photographer. Also, I will be featuring a special guest blogger who knows quite a lot about this subject…Be on the lookout…In the mean time, I’m going to celebrate! xoxo – Abby

This week is a little crazy, but all good at the same time. Between preparing for my engagement session with Jennifer and Matt in NYC this weekend and the upcoming Images for a Cure Workshop, I am running around like a mad woman. One of the “to dos” on my list today was to secure my location for the shootout on Day 2 of the workshop. After driving around all through downtown and Winter Park trying to find a nicely shaded park to set up a tablescape, I had an epiphany: How perfect would it be to have access to Casa Feliz, (one of my favorite venues) to use for the shootout??? Not only would we be learning how to photograph tablescape detail shots, which are oh so important for getting published, but I would be able to expand it into photographing from getting ready details to portraits, and reception. All majorly important. I spoke with the lovely Stacey at Casa Feliz and was delighted to hear that they are letting me host my shootout there! The historic red brick, Spanish-style house is nestled in beautiful Winter Park, complete with bright blue wooden shutters. I love it every time I have the opportunity to photograph a wedding there as there are beautiful arch ways and the lighting is always prime. It is the perfect location for this workshop and should be a great shoot.

DETAILS

First off, there is STILL time to sign up for IFAC if you have not yet already – March 1-2. This will be two days of learning, motivation, and surrounding yourself with everything photography. Plus, it’s for an extremely important cause. All proceeds are being donated to Breast Cancer Research. Day 1 is held at The Mezz in downtown Orlando and will consist of presentations from some of the top photographers, editors, and stylists in the industry. Day 2 (March 2nd) shootout starts at 9am – 12pm. This will be an intimate group so I can focus on providing each and every one of you ample time to go over technique and overall approach. Also, for those who wish to join me, I will be hosting a critique at my studio in Winter Park of what you photographed that morning. One of the most informative and important take-aways from these workshops is to have your work reviewed. This makes you push yourself further and overall become a better photographer.  Also, if there is time, I will be offering portfolio and overall marketing / web reviews. Lee Forrest Design is graciously providing the sure-to-be-amazing tablescape for us to photograph. And I cannot be more excited to have Solutions Bridal be styling our model from head to toe. The images captured will be a perfect addition to your portfolio and website.

WHAT TO BRING

Yourself of course, creativity, equipment, laptop, and card reader. Also bottled water as if you’re at all like me, get extremely thirsty while shooting.

I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of you! It is very important to me that you learn a lot, so please don’t hesitate at any point in time to ask questions. I hope you all will walk away with a better understanding of shooting to get published!

They are hosting their first Spring Workshop that will include one day of guest speakers and one day of shooting with many of Central Florida’s successful photography studio owners and I am honored that they have asked me to participate. This will be my first time presenting at a workshop, and although I am nervous, I am really excited to have the opportunity to share some of what I have learned over the past several years.

One of the most important aspects of becoming a successful wedding photographer is gaining exposure and a perfect way to achieve this is by getting your photographs published. In the IFAC workshop I will discuss “Shooting to Get Published”. This is a great workshop for a great cause and I am looking forward to seeing you all there!!
